Chairs: Diane Minnis and Sean Addis

The Communications Committee was reinstated at the beginning of 2024 to lead on InterPride’s strategic and operational communications. This includes our website, social media, newsletter, event communications and WorldPride.

The Committee meets monthly and is operational; members of the Committee are expected to contribute to the delivery of InterPride’s communications.

Conference Committee

Chairs: Jen LaBarbera and Barry Karlenzig

The main focus of Conference Structure & Integrity Committee (CSIC) is to ensure the bidding process and execution of the Annual General Meeting and World Conference adheres to the standing rules in InterPride’s Methods and Standards Guide.

The committee performs many tasks to achieve this goal. The committee meets monthly to discuss updating current procedures. This includes bidding procedures, minimum meal requirements, reviewing the proposed AGM schedule, and other items on the Annual General Meeting and World Conference.

The committee Co-Chairs and members assist potential member organizations in preparing their bids. They are also available to answer questions and provide feedback. In addition, member organizations are welcome to attend committee meetings to listen to the process and ask questions.

CSIC provides an overall framework for producing an Annual General Meeting and World Conference, but the host committee has the latitude to exceed any minimum expectation CSIC has mandated.

If you wish to contact the CSIC Committee, please contact us, and it will be forwarded accordingly.

Grants Committee

Co-Chairs: Alan Reiff and Andrea Gilbert

The Grants Committee manages InterPride’s two grant programs, the Solidarity Fund and the Humanitarian Aid Fund.

The Solidarity Fund provides grants to Pride and Pride-like organizations to produce Pride events.

The Humanitarian Aid Fund provides funding for essential needs and projects to combat racism.

The assessment process conducted by the Committee includes eligibility and comparative merit. Preference is given to organizations that have not previously received funding from InterPride.

Human Rights & Diversity Committee

Chair: Miko Czerwinski

The Human Rights and Diversity Committee provides advice and recommendations to the Board on issues affecting LGBTQI+ communities around the world. There are many countries where an individual’s sexual orientation or gender identity can lead to discrimination, violence, imprisonment, torture, or even execution.

InterPride believes that there are many ways to advocate for equality, but, as Pride organizers, one of the most powerful is through visibility.

The Human Rights and Diversity Committee encourages and supports Pride events throughout the world free from opposition and government intervention.

Member Services Committee

Chairs: JayJay Potter-Peachey and Gilberto Diaz Kelley

The Member Services Committee is the direct link to the organization for all our members and those wishing to join. We facilitate their information to the website, assist with updating their data for renewal, and work with partner organizations like Fierte Canada Pride (FCP) and the European Pride Organizers Association (EPOA) to grow our membership and reach throughout the world.

We maintain the member benefits available to our member organizations and actively pursue avenues to increase these benefits so that both InterPride and its members may grow. Alumni & recognition is part of the Member Services Committee.

If you wish to contact the Member Services Committee, please contact us, and it will be forwarded accordingly.

Alumni & Recognition

The members of this group are tasked with: the review, development, and recommendation of policies to the Board of Directors regarding the recognition of the long-term commitment of individuals and member organizations to InterPride; the execution of any plans or programs relating to the recognition of service to/within the organization; and all aspects of our Alumni & Recognition process.

Scholarship Committee

Chairs: Nicolás Rodriguez and Sarah Elizabeth

The work of the Scholarship Committee of InterPride is to disperse the voluntarily donated funds received from our member organizations and sponsors in the form of a reimbursable grant to delegates from member organizations so that they can attend the Annual General Meeting and World Conference.

The grant can pay for conference registration, accommodations, meals, and transportation. Each delegate completing a Scholarship application includes a statement of need and is reviewed by the committee. If a committee member has applied for a scholarship, they do not partake in the evaluation discussion of their application. Instead, a committee member is usually assigned to assist an applicant in helping applying organizations with any questions they have to complete the application correctly before being reviewed by the entire committee. Scholarship distributions are made based on a submission amount requested by the applicant and the amount that the applicant can contribute to the actual expenses. Grants are usually awarded before the October Annual General Meeting and World Conference in May and August.

The Scholarship grant is based on reimbursement upon producing expense receipts and submitted reports from the conference. A scholarship recipient cannot receive a scholarship grant for more than two years unless extenuating circumstances can be substantiated to and by the committee.

Attendance aims to elevate each delegate’s awareness and activism through workshops, plenaries, and networking opportunities, which they can then turnkey with their colleagues when they return home.

If you wish to contact the Scholarship Committee, please contact us, and it will be forwarded accordingly.

Scholarship Application

DEADLINES to apply are April 1 and July 1 each year.

Pride organizations may apply to the Pamela O’Brien Scholarship Fund. This fund was created to assist as many organizations as possible in attending the Annual General Meeting and World Conference.

The Pam O’Brien Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Pam O’Brien Memorial Scholarship Fund was established many years ago to help financially challenged organizations attend the Annual General Meeting and World Conference. As a result, over the years, a dozen Pride organizations have benefited from networking and learning from seasoned Pride organizers worldwide.

This opportunity is only made possible through the generosity of individuals and member organizations. We are very grateful for the donations that are received every year. It is an essential benefit of membership in InterPride.

Pam O’Brien was on the Board of InterPride and Cape Cod Pride and a former InterPride’s Scholarship Committee Chair.

She was renowned in Cape Cod and a recipient of the David Norrie Award from Heritage of Pride of New York City. Pam was a passionate champion of the Scholarship fund and was instrumental in helping get it more attention and keeping it relevant.

Pam passed away on June 3, 2008, and later that year, the Scholarship fund was named in her honor and memory. Pam will be forever remembered and always missed.

WorldPride Committee

The WorldPride committee aims to facilitate communications between InterPride and the respective host(s) organization(s). In addition, the committee may assist a biding organization with their proposal and recommend acceptance or denial of said application to the general membership of InterPride. This committee ensures that InterPride’s interests are looked after and that the host organization has fulfilled all the stipulations of its contract.

WorldPride events have been held in Rome (2000), Jerusalem (2004), London (2012), Toronto (2014), Madrid (2017), New York City (2019), and Copenhagen, Denmark (2021). The next WorldPride is in February 2023 in Sydney, Australia.

View the WorldPride Handbook.

The committee meets regularly to discuss the current status of the respective upcoming WorldPride event and participate in the actual organization of such, wherever needed. Furthermore, committee members attend and participate in WorldPride events whenever possible and represent not only their own organizations but also InterPride.

If you wish to contact the WorldPride Committee, please contact us, and it will be forwarded accordingly.
